Assessment:
At this time, Dr. Jolin provides psychological assessments focused on behavior and social-emotional functioning. If a psychoeducational assessment is needed, Dr. Jolin will facilitate a referral to one of her trusted colleagues. Upon meeting a new client/family, Dr. Jolin completes an initial assessment in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges that the child/adolescent is currently facing. At the end of this assessment, Dr. Jolin’s clinical impressions and recommendations are discussed and then treatment goals are made in collaboration with the client. Occasionally, Dr. Jolin makes referrals to other professionals (e.g., psychiatry) and/or community programs in order to best meet the needs of her clients.
Individual Therapy:
Dr. Jolin provides effective, evidence-based therapy for a wide variety of issues such as:
Dr. Jolin recognizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship and she strives to help children, adolescents, and parents feel comfortable and empowered in therapy. Dr. Jolin’s theoretical orientation is largely cognitive-behavioral, although she routinely incorporates other empirically-validated therapeutic techniques when she determines that they would be helpful for her client. The length of individual therapy varies depending on the presenting problem, the client’s level of engagement, and how well they are able to apply what they have learned in therapy. Typically, a course of cognitive-behavioral therapy consists of 8-10 sessions.
Group Therapy:
Dr. Jolin plans to offer child and adolescent group therapy programs focused on anxiety and stress management. Please contact Dr. Jolin directly for information regarding scheduling and availabilities.
Parental Consultation:
Dr. Jolin often works with parents who are looking for different parental strategies and techniques. She offers consultation to parents who are experiencing common challenges such as dealing with difficult behavior, parent-child conflict, difficulties maintaining daily routines, sleep challenges, and facilitating parent-child communication.
